BACKGROUND
A Swedish company with its own data centers
Savecore AB is a Swedish IT infrastructure provider that designs, implements, and manages IT environments for companies and organizations. The business is based on its own data centers in Sweden, meaning that customer data is stored within Swedish borders and is subject to Swedish law.
The company delivers both cloud-based services—backup, disaster recovery, infrastructure, storage and development platform—and consulting services where specialists work as an extension of the customer’s own IT team. The combination of proprietary infrastructure and specialist expertise means that Savecore takes full responsibility for the entire chain, from physical facility to operational service.
Positioning is as much legal as it is technical. For organisations covered by GDPR, NIS2, DORA, or procurement requirements on storage location, the question of where data is physically located—and who can legally access it—is often decisive. Savecore’s answer is that the company, its staff, and its data centres are all in Sweden.
Savecore has offices in Sundsvall and Stockholm.
The data center operations are based in Sundsvall, in electricity price area SE2, where all data is stored in our own server halls. This means Savecore can offer storage with the lowest electricity-related carbon emissions in Sweden. With close to 100% green electricity thanks to locally produced wind and hydropower, Savecore can provide environmentally sustainable storage with less than one fifth of the carbon emissions compared with the national average. Savecore’s data centers use only green electricity from wind and hydropower.
SERVICES
Services
Savecore delivers the following services. All are operated from the company’s own data centers in Sweden. A complete overview can be found on the our services page.
- Savecore BaaS – backup as a service: Fully managed cloud-based backup that protects against hardware failure, cyberattacks and human error. The service is built on Commvault technology and delivered with daily operations, continuous monitoring and expert support 24/7.
- Savecore DRaaS – Disaster Recovery as a Service: An add-on service to BaaS for rapid data recovery and server restart after an incident. Based on continuous backup to geographically separated data centers, all within Sweden.
- Savecore IaaS – cloud-based IT infrastructure: Replaces on-premises physical servers with a cloud service. For organisations that want to build their own infrastructure without being responsible for hardware and data centres.
- Savecore S3 – Enterprise Cloud Storage: Scalable and cost-effective object storage with high availability and data security, for storing and sharing data across multiple devices.
- Savecore PaaS – cloud-based development platform: Development environment with a suite of open-source tools for everything from simple apps to advanced enterprise applications. Environments are created in minutes and billed based on resources used.

EXPERTISE
Areas of expertise
Savecore’s technical expertise is concentrated in six areas. These recur in both consulting assignments and managed services.
- Servers: Design and architecture of server solutions, installation and configuration of physical and virtual servers, performance analysis and optimization, and ongoing maintenance and support.
- Storage: Storage design and storage strategy based on capacity, performance and security requirements, followed by implementation, operation and maintenance.
- Virtualization: Design and operation of virtualized environments, including migration between platforms and optimization of resource utilization.
- Databases: Installation, configuration, performance optimization and management of database environments.
- Unix-based systems: Specialist expertise in Unix-based environments, with Oracle Solaris as a key area of expertise.
- Secure Remote Access: Solutions for secure remote access to systems and environments, including network design and access control.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Data center and infrastructure
Savecore owns and operates its own data centers in Sweden. All customer data is stored in these facilities, meaning it is subject to Swedish legislation and not foreign legislation with extraterritorial reach.
All critical infrastructure in the facilities is redundant according to N+1, minimizing the risk of downtime. Power supply is based on dual electrical connections from different substations, UPS battery banks that take over during millisecond interruptions, and backup generators capable of running the entire facility for days or weeks.
Datacenter operations are located in bidding area SE2, which has Sweden’s lowest carbon emissions per kilowatt-hour. The facilities run on 100% green electricity from locally produced wind and hydroelectric power, providing storage with less than a fifth of the carbon emissions compared to the Swedish average.
For disaster resilience with DRaaS, multiple geographically separated data centers are used, all within Sweden, so that an incident at one location does not eliminate the ability to restore.
APPROACH
Service Delivery
A project at Savecore normally follows four steps.
- Current state: Review of existing environment, dependencies and requirements — including regulatory requirements for storage location, recovery times and availability.
- Design: A solution is developed based on the customer’s actual circumstances rather than a standard package. The scope of the services is tailored and can be scaled up or down continuously.
- Implementation: Savecore’s in-house specialists handle installation, configuration, and migration, aiming to minimize operational impact during the transition.
- Service management: Savecore handles day-to-day operations and ongoing monitoring. In the event of an incident, expert help is available 24/7. Customers can reach support via the support portal.

Competitive advantages
- Own data centers in Sweden: Savecore does not lease capacity from anyone else. The facilities are owned and operated by the company itself, which means the answer to where the data is located is unambiguous and can be documented in a procurement process.
- Legal security: A Swedish company, Swedish staff, and Swedish data centers mean that customer data is covered by Swedish law and not by foreign legislation with extraterritorial reach.
- In-house specialist expertise across the entire chain: The same organization is responsible for facility, platform and operations. The customer does not need to coordinate multiple vendors when troubleshooting.
- Transparent pricing: Package prices are published openly, making it possible to calculate the cost of a solution before you get in touch.
- Customization instead of off-the-shelf packages: Services are scaled and tailored to the customer’s actual environment, with the ability to increase or decrease scope on an ongoing basis.
- Sustainable operations: 100% green electricity in electricity area SE2 with Sweden’s lowest carbon dioxide emissions, as well as recycling and reuse of older hardware.
- Long-term customer relationships: 95% of customers from ten years ago are still with us.

- IT departments looking to reduce costs and increase flexibility: By replacing physical servers with cloud-based infrastructure resources.
- Growth companies and startups: Those that need infrastructure that can scale quickly without initial hardware investment.
- Organizations using Microsoft 365: That need to secure email, files, and collaboration spaces beyond the built-in protection.
- Organizations with Oracle Solaris environments: Requiring a partner with enduring specialist expertise in Unix-based systems.
- Development team: Needs to be able to create and tear down development environments on demand without ordering them from operations.
