Have you thought about backing up your data in the cloud?

Industry-related

Today, more and more data is stored in the cloud and many people believe that the data you store in the cloud is safely protected against any disasters. But if something were to happen, have you thought about backing up?

Some time ago, we read about the incident where cloud giant Amazon suffered a power outage and customers lost data that could not be recovered. This incident shows that just because you store your data in the cloud, you don’t automatically have it safely stored. Regardless of the services and features offered by your cloud provider, it is important to have a separate backup strategy. You need to keep in mind that by outsourcing data to a cloud service, you are not less responsible for it. It is still up to you to manage.

Review your backup strategy
It is important that you review your backup strategy. Should your cloud provider experience something like a power outage, it is of the utmost importance that you also have a separate backup of the data you store in the cloud. Then you can most likely restore the environment and you do not risk losing important data in the same way. Data you have established that you must not lose should be protected extra. Companies often stand or fall on that very data. You cannot take any shortcuts here.

Are you using a cloud service today? Not sure what the backup looks like? Get in touch with us. We have experts in the field who are happy to tell you more about what you need to consider to feel safe with your storage and backup solution.
